Consultations & Assessments
To help any child, we need to fully understand their specific learning experience. This happens in two ways: a current psycho-educational evaluation and an achievement measurement. These achievement measurements explain the details of what learning activities come easily for your child, and where they need improvement in addition to improving the planning of instruction. With this information, we can custom-design an education plan based on your child’s specific learning needs.
Learning3
Learning3 (Learning Cubed) is a program unique to Julie’s Scholars that focuses on the synergy between the parents, therapist, and student. This collaborative approach is vital to overcoming a variety of learning disabilities that can hinder a successful education. We support the parent’s involvement by educating them about their child’s learning process, allowing them to effectively help their child grow. This program includes a parent journal, activities for parental role modeling, and regular parent/therapist meetings. The participants become a team, magnifying the educational benefit beyond any normal strategy. This ancient technique helps the Scholar understand, process, and retain information. All programs closely involve the child’s parent or guardian to some degree, sometimes intensively.
-Learning Readiness – Is your child between kindergarten and second grade? Do you have a feeling that they’re missing something? Learning Readiness might be right for them. We’ll screen your child to determine their skill level in several different perceptual areas, allowing us to prescribe the appropriate multi-sensory learning process that will help most effectively.
Most children these days spend many hours watching screens instead of playing outside, depriving them of the valuable opportunity to develop detail-oriented perceptual skills. Learning Readiness activities for 30 minutes per day, 3-5 times per week, can prepare your child for note-taking and independent homework assignments.
-Educational Therapy – Educational Therapy lays a solid foundation in phonemic awareness, phonics, syllabication, and cursive handwriting through rhythmic writing, copy, auditory, and math exercises. Our systematic strategy provides the structure for in-depth learning that carries on into and beyond high school. Most Educational Therapy activities are short in duration but intensive and personalized.
-Structural Literacy – Students who struggle to read and spell printed words respond well to Structural Literacy. The components of Structural Literacy are critical for students with a variety of reading disabilities. Unfortunately, most schools (including private schools) do not teach this curriculum. Evidence is strong that the majority of students learn to read better with structured teaching of basic language skills. With these skills, your child will develop an aptitude for structured language and literacy through multi-sensory structured language education.
We’re now proud to offer online Zoom classes. Develop your child’s learning ability from the comfort of your own home!
