About

Hello, I’m glad you are here! If you’re concerned about your child’s learning, you’re probably searching for answers. There are so many solutions to choose from that it can grow overwhelming. I’m here to help you determine what exactly will work for your child’s education situation.

My name is Julie Nielsen, and I am a Professionally Certified Educational Therapist with the National Institute of Learning Development (NILD.org). I also have a Master’s in Exceptional Student Education/Educational Therapy and a Certificate in Dyslexia Education. I have been educating children since I taught my own children to read 25 years ago. I have homeschooled my children, used charter schools for a time, and most recently followed my youngest son to the public high school setting where I worked as a paraprofessional.

Learning disabilities can be a challenge for any parent or guardian, but we can make sense of how best to address your child’s specific needs. Parents of our Scholars not only gain insight into their child’s strengths and weaknesses, but also come along for the ride, learning and growing along with their child. We provide children with what they need for success and parents with a welcoming peace of mind so they can be confident about their child’s learning experience.

We welcome children with a variety of learning differences including dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, auditory processing or other learning disabilities. We also have programs for those just a little bit behind. As any professional knows, it is important to start with a thorough assessment of the situation before developing a plan. Any evaluations or assessments done by a school or psychologist will be discussed and used along with the family goals to formulate a learning plan. Julie’s Scholars can also help parents understand the assessments and guide them in how to work with the school.
